Bouchard, the Telegraph Road sheriff contact block, and the inmate information phone line. A user must complete the reCAPTCHA challenge, select Oakland County Jail, and enter the roster session before the current and recent custody tabs are available. The county's own jail information page warns that jail records can be as much as 72 hours out of date depending on the day of the week, so CLEMIS is a strong first check but not the last word for bond, court, or release planning.
CLEMIS covers people in Oakland County Jail, people booked into that jail in the last 72 hours, and people released from that jail in the last 72 hours. It does not search every person with an Oakland County criminal case. A person sentenced to state prison moves to the Michigan Department of Corrections search path. A federal prisoner belongs in the BOP locator after commitment, and an immigration detainee belongs in ICE ODLS if ICE or CBP custody is the issue. That split is the main mistake to avoid when an Oakland County inmate record disappears from the county roster after sentencing, transfer, release, or a hold review.

Oakland County Inmate Profile
A CLEMIS profile is a booking-side jail record, not a full court file. It is still detailed enough to identify the right person and route the next question. The charge row is a starting point. The court record controls formal case status, amendments, dismissed counts, plea history, and final disposition. For that reason, a CLEMIS charge should be paired with the court of jurisdiction when a family member, attorney, or bondsman is making a decision based on a listed bond type or case number.
Oakland County Jail Contact
When CLEMIS is unclear, the inmate information line and Records Unit are the main local fallback channels. Phone contact is better for current custody, release, and urgent hold questions. The Records Unit is better for public records, inmate jail files, and report access that is not visible online. The county's FOIA page also says court records are not obtained through FOIA, so court files should be requested from the court, not the sheriff records counter.

Oakland County Jail Visits
Oakland County Jail visits are video visits scheduled through Smart Communications. Visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance and can be scheduled up to two weeks ahead. Each inmate is allowed one free visit and one paid visit per week, with 15-minute and 30-minute choices. Onsite visits are free. Remote visits from a computer or phone cost $0.11 per minute, described by the county as 11 credits per minute.

Only the registered visitor may use the appointment. One adult visitor and one child visitor are allowed, and the adult must be the person who scheduled the visit. Visitors need a current driver's license, state ID, or passport. Dress rules bar transparent clothing, short skirts or shorts above the county limit, tank or tube tops, bathing suits, zippered tops, revealing clothing, and clothing tied to drugs, alcohol, or gang affiliation.

Store snippets emphasize real-time sheriff notifications, road closures, safety threats, weather alerts, and agency access. The research found no official evidence that the app has an app-only inmate roster, so CLEMIS remains the county roster path.
County Jail vs State Prison
County jail custody and state prison custody answer different questions. Oakland County Jail holds adult pretrial detainees, people sentenced to local jail terms, people waiting on transfer, and people held on warrants or detainers. MDOC OTIS covers sentenced state prisoners, parolees, probationers, and certain recently discharged MDOC-supervised people. BOP and ICE are separate federal systems. Oakland County Booking Records
Oakland County Jail intake occurs at the Main Jail. After arrest, staff create or update identifiers, associate a booking photo when available, record the booking date and time, complete the search and property process, screen medical or mental-health needs, assign classification, and place the person in a jail location. CLEMIS later shows the public-facing parts of that process, including inmate ID, booking date, sex, date of birth, location, image, charges, holds, court, case number, and bond entries when available.
Release can take longer than a roster reader expects. The county's release procedure says a current LEIN check is run before a scheduled outdate. If no holds, warrants, or detainers appear, release is processed as close to 12:01 AM as possible. That means a person may have a bond or release date and still remain in custody while staff check other legal blocks. The safest chain is CLEMIS, inmate information, court confirmation, and then the bonding or release window if a release is likely.
Note: Confirm bond and charge details with the court of jurisdiction before relying on a roster field for release decisions.
Oakland County Jail Communication
Oakland County uses Smart Communications for phone, video visits, deposits, mail processing, and electronic messages. Phone and video funds are converted to credits and are separate from trust account money. Each inmate receives one free 15-minute phone call per day. The initial booking call is separate, does not count against that daily free call, and must last no more than 3 minutes. Attorney calls are free and unlimited only when the attorney follows the county's letterhead procedure so calls are not recorded.
Standard mail is not sent straight to the jail. The official regular-mail address is Oakland County Jail, Inmate Name - Inmate Number, PO Box 9103, Seminole, FL 33775-9103. Legal and business mail uses Oakland County Jail, Inmate Name - Inmate Number, PO Box 436017, Pontiac, MI 48343. The county bans packages, food, stamps, envelopes, instant photos, oversized cards or photos, glued or taped items, glitter, White Out, stains, lipstick, perfume, newspaper clippings, blank paper, nude or explicit material, and large or heavy books.
Electronic messages cost $0.50 each, photos by electronic message cost $1.00 per photo, and the county lists a minimum $5 deposit plus a one-time $1.50 setup fee. Each inmate gets two free Saturday messages, one incoming and one outgoing. For a person whose custody status is unclear, confirm the jail record before sending money because trust deposits, phone credits, and tablet credits serve different purposes.
